What is Colombian Coffee?
Coffee plants are believed to have been first introduced to Colombia by the Spanish Jesuit priests in the Early Sixteenth Century. The first coffee seeds to be planted in Colombian soil were in the Eastern region of Colombia as a penance after a confession by the local population. The first written mention of coffee in Colombia was in the 1730 book, The Orinoco Illustrated by the Jesuit Priest Jose Gumilla
